A Force Multiplier in the Fight to Protect Against Coronavirus

About RP Advanced Mobile Systems Fight Against COVID

RP Advanced Mobile Systems (RPAMS) not only focuses on personal protection from the pandemic through our CCV (Counter Coronavirus) products but also takes into account our intimate environment. Whether that is our home, the places we visit, or the family we want to be with, having an environment free of this contagion is of critical importance. To address that concern in an effort to restore normalcy, RPAMS has developed multiple UVC emitting sterilizing products to augment current regulatory safeguards against infected touch surfaces. It is a force multiplier towards ensuring personal safety and the safety of those we care about.

RPAMS CDC UVC

Germicidal Ultraviolet (GUV), or Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI), is a disinfection tool used in many different settings, such as residential, commercial, educational, and healthcare. The technology uses ultraviolet (UV) energy to inactivate (kill) microorganisms, including viruses, when designed and installed correctly.

There is still a lot to learn about SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and the possibility of airborne viral particles and spread. However, GUV can inactivate viruses in the air and on surfaces*. The design and sizing of effective GUV disinfection systems requires specific knowledge and experience.

Be sure to seek consultation with a reputable GUV manufacturer or an experienced GUV system designer prior to installing GUV systems. These professionals can assist by doing necessary calculations, making fixture selections, properly installing the system, and testing for proper operation specific to the setting.

*NOTE: CDC’s recommendation for primary surface disinfection in occupied environments is to follow the CDC/EPA guidance for surface disinfection.

RPAMS CCV Portable UVC Sterilizer Lights

The RPAMS CCV UV Sterilizers are portable handheld light systems that emits Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) to combat the presence of microbes. The placement of the UVGI system must be in direct line of sight for optimum and thorough disinfection. UVGI disinfects using short-wavelength ultraviolet (UV-C) light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions. Correctly used, UVGI light can purify food, air, and water. This method ensures increased disinfection coverage to supplement current cleaning processes.

TRUST BUT VERIFY!!
RPAMS ATP Cleaning and Verification

In times like these, knowledge is power and RPAMS practices the policy of ‘trust but verify’ when it comes to potential exposure to undesired pathogens. At RPAMS, we utilize ATP testing to verify and augment UVC Cleaning and Verification processes, especially in these challenging times when disinfection of touch surfaces are critically important to public safety.

How ATP Cleaning Verification Products Work:

  • ATP is an energy molecule found in all plant, animal and microbial cells. It fuels metabolic processes such as cellular reproduction, muscle contraction, plant photosynthesis, respiration in fungi, and fermentation in yeast. All organic matter (living or once-living) contains ATP, including food, bacteria, mold and other microorganisms.
  • ATP testing devices contain a natural enzyme found in fireflies. This enzyme, called luciferase, produces a simple bioluminescence (light-producing) reaction when it comes into contact with ATP. Using bioluminescence technology, our ATP meter can measure extremely low levels of ATP collected with testing devices.
  • Measuring the amount of bioluminescence from an ATP reaction provides an excellent indication of surface cleanliness because the quantity of light generated by the reaction is directly proportional to the amount of ATP present in the sample.

How ATP Cleaning Verification Products can be used:

  • To track cleaning and disinfection efforts and verify they have been effective.
  • To verify that high-touch areas in your facility have been cleaned properly.
  • To verify that common areas, meeting rooms, classrooms, transportation vehicles and offices have been cleaned according to prescribed standards.

Relevant ATP Testing Information:

    RPAMS ATP Cleaning and Testing
  • ATP systems do not detect viruses directly. However, Hygiena™ (ATP manufacturer) provides that COVID-19 infected material that contains biological residues will be detected by an ATP system.
  • ATP testers do not produce a virus test.
  • Performing ATP Cleaning and/or Verification does not guarantee removal of viruses on surfaces but augments surface verification processes when used in conjunction with CDC recommendations and guidelines.
